Michelle Weyand, Executive Assistant-Human Resource Specialist, received the November 2011 Distinguished Service Award.

Michelle has been with the district since 1994. She first came to the district as a secretary to the Counselors at the high school, although her first Human Resources experience came from her work at Dillard’s in their Human Resources and Corporate Training department. Her employment history also includes working as a Dress Buyer and Merchandise Manager at Stix, Baer & Fuller – a department store well recognized by long-term St. Louis residents.

Michelle has two children, Lauren and Brian, and two grandchildren, Claire and Jenna. Michelle holds an Associate’s Degree in Business and is proud to have grown up in St. Louis – right near Ted Drewe’s on Chippewa.

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Judy Sclair says of Michelle’s interactions with staff members — and those who wish to be staff members: “Michelle has a unique ability to put everyone at ease. She instantly makes the person she is talking to feel they are the most important person in her world at that moment and has an uncanny ability to recall interesting things about people and share those anecdotes with them years later.”

Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Michelle immediately recognizes her value as a “good will ambassador” for the Ladue School District. She holds the Ladue School District, its staff and its patrons in very high regard and is committed to our district vision: Together, we will empower each student to become a passionate learner and achieve his or her highest potential.

Michelle sees her role in meeting this vision as doing her very best to find and hire the very finest educators and staff to serve our students. “To Michelle – no task is too small, no person’s need too insignificant for her to drop everything and put her heart and soul into it,” says Dr. Sclair. “Her initiative, drive and pride in this district have served us well and we are truly fortunate to have Michelle among us.”
