SSD Staff Members Honored at SSD Salutes Banquet

On March 6, 2013, the Special School District of St. Louis (SSD) held its annual SSD Salutes Banquet where 45 staff and community members were honored for their outstanding efforts on behalf of SSD and its students. Among those honored were three SSD staff members affiliated with the Ladue School District.

  • Margaret Backus from the Ladue Horton Watkins High School and Wanda Laks from Conway Elementary School were honored with the Building Block Award which honors outstanding paraprofessionals for their significant contributions to the lives of SSD students.
  • Michelle Turner the speech-language pathologist at Spoede Elementary School was honored with the Lasting Impression Award which honors staff who make a difference in the lives of students, both within and outside the classroom.
