Guitarist and 1971 Graduate Niedt to Perform at Ethical Society

After a half-century of presentation, more than one performer has become a regular with the St. Louis Classical Guitar Society. Douglas Niedt can lay a unique claim: His father, Douglas Niedt Sr., a dedicated amateur guitarist himself, was among the group’s founders.

Niedt, who will open the Guitar Society’s 51st season on Sept. 27, grew up in Creve Coeur (“Ladue Horton Watkins High School,” he replied to the St. Louis Question). He lives in the Kansas City area, where he went to study and stayed to perform and teach. He began studying classical guitar with his father at age 7 and made his concert debut in St. Louis when he was 16.
