Ladue Middle School’s Leuthen Receives September Excellence in Education Award

Ladue Middle School (LMS) Principal Greg Baber describes Carissa Leuthen as a tireless advocate for the educational needs of every LMS student.  That non-stop energy has earned the speech language pathologist for the Special School District (SSD) the September 2014 Excellence in Education Award.

Beyond being an exceptional teacher at the Ladue Middle School, Carissa takes on additional responsibilities, including developing the SSD portion of the master schedule and serving on the LMS Problem Solving Team. Described as a joy to work with, Carissa has easily won over colleagues, students and parents since joining the district in August, 2004.

Calling St. Louis home, Carissa and her husband, Jake, have 2 children: Coleman, age 7 and Sydnie, age 3.

Carissa received a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with an emphasis in Speech Language Pathology from Missouri State University.
