Ladue Horton Watkins High School alumna Magda Lijowska has been honored for Excellence in Foreign Language Study by the Foreign Language Association of Missouri (FLAM). Lijowska and her Spanish teacher, Mrs. Maritza Sloan, were honored at FLAM’s annual fall conference in Kansas City on Oct. 18, 2014.
The Excellence in Foreign Language Study Award is given to a junior or senior high school world language student that exhibits superior performance in the foreign language classroom. Ms. Lijowska is currently enrolled as a freshman at Washington University in St. Louis. She plans to travel to El Salvador in December with a group of students from Washington University. When asked about the upcoming trip, Lijowska said, “I cannot wait to use my Spanish to help the people of another country.”
