Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s Michael Wielansky is now the all-time goal leader in a season. With 42 career goals, Wielansky is closing in on the all-time points record with six away from becoming Ladue’s all-time leading scorer too. Wielansky is chasing former LHWHS soccer player and current Washington Nationals minor leaguer William Piwnica-Worms’ record, who set all those marks in 2007.
Coach Aronberg laughed at the similarities. “That’s our pedigree at Ladue, we just steal baseball players and make them into soccer players.” It’s because of his talents and experience, Wielansky assumed more of a leadership role. According to Aronberg, his varsity soccer play has blossomed. “He’s the hardest worker.”
