LHWHS Alumni Ed Protzel Lands Book Deal

Design of a shooting star

Ed Protzel, Class of ’65, will see his novel hit store shelves in 2015.

Wild Wolf Publishing of Great Britain acquired the rights to Ed’s novel, The Lies that Bind, a darkly ironic antebellum mystery/drama set in Turkle, Mississippi, 1859-61. The novel is based on his original screenplay, which was recognized by the Missouri Playwrights Association. Ed has written five original screenplays for feature film and developed film scripts/projects for 20th Century Fox. Century Fox’s Murray Silverman, Paramount’s Sherry Lansing, and Chelsea Studios producer Stan Zuckerman called it a “great script.”

The two sequels in the trilogy are tentatively titled Honor Among Outcasts – set in Missouri during the transition from the Civil War to a violent reconstruction, and Something in Madness – set in late-1800’s California.

Prozel has a Master’s in English Literature/Creative Writing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a B.A. in English, with a minor in history, from the University of Hawaii. He is represented by Loiacono Literary Agency.
