Three LHWHS Students Win Area Computer Awards

Three Ladue Horton Watkins High School students have been recognized by the National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT).  Pictured left to right: Rowan Faulkner, Jessica Thoelke, YiFan Zhou.
  • Senior Rowan Faulkner has been selected for the 2015 St. Louis and Southern Illinois Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing.
  • Junior Jessica Thoelke and Senior YiFan Zhou and  have been selected as runners-up for the 2015 St. Louis and Southern Illinois Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing.

The NCWIT Award honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education.  “This is a great honor for LHWHS and these young women and speaks well for their prospects as future leaders in technology,” said John Pais, computer science teacher at LHWHS.

The three LHWHS students, along with 21 other young women from across eastern Missouri and southern Illinois, will be honored during an award ceremony on March 8, 2015, on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.
