Old Bonhomme Third and Fourth Graders Compete in Equations Tournament

Thirty-two third and fourth graders from Old Bonhomme Elementary School participated in the Equations Tournament at University of Missouri at St. Louis on Feb. 24, 2015.

Fourth-graders Sammy Siegel (top scorer), Aetant Prakash, Sam Loiterstein, Jacob Goldstein and Josh Goldman and third-graders Zachary Barrett (top scorer), Ilya Rice, Nicholas Chang, Sanjay Calfee and Aric Wang earned top team scores in their grade level category. Fourth-graders Braylon Taylor, Losan Huang, Adam Greene and Amber Carr made up the Math-sters of the Universe team, which won the most creative team name award.

The Equations Tournament was part of the Gifted Resource Council’s Academic Challenge Cup. More than 1,400 students from more than 80 St. Louis metropolitan public, private and parochial schools competed in the weeklong event.

Tammy MacLean, Julie Bergin and Dave Cole were the students’ coaches.
