MATH FACT SCHOLARS is a weekly math-testing program that provides Pre-K to sixth grade students with the opportunity to advance their math skills – earning ribbons, medals and trophies along the way! Students work at their own pace through seven skill levels:
- Division (including multi-digit computation)
Students’ success in the MATH FACT SCHOLARS program is based upon their commitment to practicing math at home, using the program workbooks, and by attending the once per week testing sessions.
Spoede’s MATH FACT SCHOLARS testing sessions take place every Tuesday, from 8:15-8:45 a.m. in the school gymnasium. Currently, 149 of Spoede’s 433 students are enrolled and participate in the program.
During the 22 testing sessions this school year, a total of 176 math achievement awards have been earned by Spoede’s kindergarten – fourth grade students. This translates to an average of eight students per week that are completing a program skill level and earning their math achievement award. To complete all skill levels in the program a student must pass 200 timed math skill tests, with a 95-100% accuracy rate.
Parent volunteers help to implement the MATH FACT SCHOLARS program at Spoede Elementary School.
