LHWHS Alumnus Ben Solomon Wins Pulitzer Prize

Ben receives the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting.

Ben Solomon, a 2006 graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School, as part of a team of reporters for The New York Times, was honored on April 21, 2015, with the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting. Ben and his fellow teammates won for their coverage of the Ebola crisis in West Africa, which the committee praised for “engaging the public with the scope and the details of the outbreak while holding authorities accountable.”

While at LHWHS, Ben was active in the broadcast journalism program. After his high school graduation, Ben attended DePauw University before landing the coveted position as a video journalist at The New York Times.

Ben’s parent’s shared that they received two days notice so they could fly to New York to hear the official announcement.  Ben was flown back from Sierra Leone, also with two days notice, in order to accept the award from  The New York Times editor and owner.
