Congratulations to Ladue Horton Watkins High School alumna Robyn Viloria Wiens who is founding principal of Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls, the first single-sex charter school in St. Louis.  Robyn graduated from LHWHS in 1996. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Drake University, her Master of Education at Harvard University and her Doctorate of Education at the University of Washington.

“All of us on Hawthorn’s Board are confident that Dr. Wiens is just the right leader for this high-quality new school,” founder Mary Danforth Stillman said in a news release. “In Robyn, we have found a capable, experienced and energetic principal who is committed to excellence. Our faculty and students will flourish under her guidance and I am confident that she will set our students up for long-term success.”

Hawthorn will eventually enroll 500 girls in grades 6th through 12th by 2020. The curriculum will be STEM-based— science, technology, engineering and math. The school will enroll two grades, 6th and 7th, for the 2015-16 school year.

The school is located at 1901 N. Kingshighway Blvd in St. Louis. We wish Robyn and her students and staff the best of luck with their inaugural school year!
