Two Ladue Horton Watkins High School students were selected as guests of the Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court during the Missouri Bar Association’s Annual Meeting. Simi Falako and Rasika Sant, both seniors, attended the plenary panel session on civil rights and voting rights before having lunch with the chief justice.
The Missouri Bar Association rotates its annual meeting between Saint Louis, Kansas City and Lake of the Ozark. High school civics teachers were asked to nominate two outstanding government students to be guests of the Missouri Bar Association and the Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court.
Both students were nominated for their interest in government and related coursework, their participation on the speech and debate team and their work with Mock Trial. Simi’s nomination also described her work with RISE, STRIDE, and other high school programs aimed at decreasing the achievement gap. Rasika’s nomination focused on her work with Saint Louis Federal Reserve Student Board as well as her leadership in the school and community.
