Congratulations to Ladue Horton Watkins High School’s Hannah Behr, who was recognized as a 2015-2016 Outstanding Project Lead the Way Engineering Teacher!
Project Lead the Way is the nation’s leading provider of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. Hannah is the PLTW coordinator for the high school, and has taken on an integral role in developing the program.
The recommendation submitted for Hannah was as follows:
“(Hannah) built the program (starting in an old maintenance shop) with a private foundation grant to buy our first set of laptops. She attended the training sessions, received Board approval for IED (Introduction to Engineering Design), and piloted our first class. That was four years ago. Today, 15 percent of our student body is enrolled in a PLTW course We built two new PLTW classrooms with 40 desktop computers and 20 laptops. We are certified and offer the capstone course. All of this was the direct result of Hannah’s leadership. Formally, she is the STEM coordinator for our building. Informally, she built health relationships within the traditional disciplines and convinced teachers to join her in growing the PLTW program.”
The Missouri PLTW Awards Banquet will be held on Nov. 1, 2015, at the Old Hickory Golf Club, #1 Dye Club Drive, St. Peters, Missouri. A celebration will be held for the awardees, and Hannah will be recognized for her accomplishment. A reception and dinner will follow.
