President Barack Obama gave a special shout-out to each member of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, including our own alumna Becky Sauerbrunn, at the White House on Tuesday!

The team was invited to a tribute in honor of the team’s 2015 World Cup win. President Obama pointed out Becky’s “quiet dominance” as a necessity for the win as he listed each girl’s characteristic contributions.

“This victory was about more than just soccer,” he went on to say. “It was about dominance and skill and about inspiring our whole country.”

Becky, a 2003 graduate of Ladue Horton Watkins High School, is a defender on the field. She plays for FC Kansas City in the National Women’s Soccer League.
