Fourth Grade Students Excelled at Regional First Lego League Competition

Fourth grade students from Reed, Spoede and Old Bonhomme shined at the regional First Lego League Competition! The competition was held at MICDS, Hazelwood West and Brittany Woods. The topic this year was waste management.

Reed’s team “X” beat its high score from past years, while both Spoede’s team “Making Solos So Low” and Old Bonhomme’s team “Scrappers” won the Core Values award.

The teams researched and presented on related issues ranging from food waste to aluminum foil waste. They also created videos to inform the public about their findings.

During the competition, the students:

  • competed in three robotic programming rounds
  • presented and defended their robot design and programs
  • presented their researched topic and solution
  • presented on their teamwork and problem-solving skills

“This award recognizes a team that excels across the Inspiration, Teamwork and Gracious Professionalism categories,” Old Bonhomme gifted teacher Tammy MacLean said. “This team displays extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, knows they can accomplish more together than they could as individuals, and shows each other and other teams respect at all times.”

Congratulations to all of the teams!
