Youth Art Month has seen some Ladue Schools’ students awarded for their artistic talents at the Picture the Music event!
According to its website, Picture the Music is a free educational initiative presented by the Symphony Volunteer Association that invites students (grades K-6) to listen to a selection of symphonic music and then create their own artistic interpretations through paintings, colorings, or drawings.
Three of Reed Elementary’s third grade students placed in the Top 100 winners of the Picture the Music awards: Sabrina Small (3), Thomas Urano (3) and Trisiah Edwards (3). The school also had one Blue Ribbon winner, Molly Bailey (3), whose work was one of 25 students’ work selected from the Top 100.
All second and third grade students participated during their art classes. The music selection at this year’s Picture the Music event that students listened to while creating was Felix Mendelssohn’s Scherzo Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The students’ work will be on display at various locations around St. Louis until early May. We are so proud of these young artists!
