Make you look like a fool, boy”

Congratulations to senior Ren Martin on being chosen to represent LHWHS at the 2016 Delta Dental High School All-Star game! Ren is a pitcher and plays left field.

Each year, one deserving, graduating senior on the team’s roster is chosen to join one of two All Star teams. This year’s game will be held on June 6 at Busch Stadium.

“Ren has been a strong player and leader for us this season,” coach Rob Garret said. “He is a hard worker and great competitor, and he has come through with some very clutch plays for us this year both in the field and at the plate.”

Ren was chosen for this honor by the team through a private ballot.

“It’s an awesome feeling knowing that my teammates picked me,” Ren said. “I think their decision shows that I am a good player, but also a good teammate.”

LHWHS is one of 34 local St. Louis City and St. Louis County Public Schools participating in the game. These seniors have earned the experience of a lifetime: working with Cardinals alumni coaches, trotting out on the field at Busch Stadium, wearing their schools’ uniforms. Ren will play the game he loves as members of the Redbirds watch and his teammates, coaches, family and friends cheer him on.
“Everyone grows up wanting to play in Busch,” Ren said. “And getting the opportunity to do so is very exciting!”
