Each year, Reed Elementary invites local first responders to recess, where these heroes hand out popsicles to the students and answer the kids’ questions about these important careers. Last Friday, the firefighters and EMT officials took time out of their day to visit with kids on the playground, tossing balls and throwing frisbees. While some students played sports with these guests, others clambered through the firetruck and ambulance.
At one point, the ambulance was called away to respond to an emergency call during the kindergarten recess. The students lined up and watched in awe as the lights flashed and the sirens pealed. The ambulance sped away down the street. When it returned, you can bet the kids had their questions ready!
The students also make cards and draw pictures as a thank you for all that these men and women do for our community. Check out the pictures here!
