Art Student’s Design is a Winning Entry in Orange is the New Black Competition

The artwork by Cameron for the show, Orange is the New Black

Junior Cameron O’Keefe recently submitted a digital artwork piece for the hit television show, Orange is the New Black. The competition was sponsored by Creative Allies, and participants were asked to create a new identity for the show. Out of 300 entries, only four were chosen as winners. Cameron’s design was the winning entry, earning her $1,000!

Cameron is a new to Ladue Schools; she spent 12 years at MICDS before deciding that she wanted to become a digital media artist. The best way to pursue that dream, she said, was to transfer to a school that offered a graphic design and AP studio art course where she could continue to build her portfolio. Ladue Horton Watkins High School was just the place!

“My transition has been spectacular,” she said. “It’s weird being the new junior, but the people I have met and the experiences I have been through so far have calmed my nerves tremendously. I cannot thank everyone who has just said “hello” to me in the hallways enough for how much they have helped me feel more comfortable at this school.”

Cameron plans to attend art school in a few years and is intent on spending her remaining time in high school focusing on her portfolio and building the strongest possible body of work for entrance. She’s checking out the programs at schools such as FIDM, SCAD, MassART, and a few more.

Congratulations, Cameron!
