LMS Student Wins Third Place in State Geography Bee

Ladue Middle School seventh grader Max Yang participated in the Missouri Geographic Bee in Moberly, Missouri, on April 6, 2018. This was the 2nd level of the National Geographic Bee, which is now in the 30th year of the competition and sponsored by National Geographic. Contestants answered questions on the following subjects: maps, languages, religion, borders, natural resources, current events, etc. Max was the school round winner for Ladue Middle School and passed a regional qualifying test to become one of the top 101 students in the state to compete in the State Geography Bee.

At the State Bee, Max was one of 11 students who were able to answer all eight questions correctly in the preliminary rounds. After a series of tie-breaker rounds, Max and the other contestants advanced to the finals. In the final round, the contestants who answered two questions wrong were eliminated in turn. He outlasted seven other competitors. Overall, Max placed 3rd in the competition.
