On Thursday, April 26, senior girls lacrosse player Kaylon Buckner broke the Missouri All-Time Goals record for girls lacrosse in the team’s 10-9 victory over O’Fallon. Kaylon, a midfielder and co-captain of the team, now holds 340 career goals, besting the previous record of 333.
Kaylon made the record-breaking goal in the first half of the match, and made a total of seven goals by the end of the game. In a match against Clayton on April 6, Kaylon passed the state record in points scored, which includes goals and assists. The previous record was 402, and Kaylon currently has 451 for her career. Just this season, Kaylon has made 77 goals and 14 assists, with five more games and the postseason remaining.
“Kaylon is a special student-athlete who has worked relentlessly to achieve success both for herself and her team,” Activities Director Nick Gianino said. “She is a once-in-a-lifetime player who leads by example, displaying great character both on and off the field. We are all so proud of Kaylon’s drive, and gratified to see that her determination and strength of character has culminated in this recognition.”
Kaylon was selected Second Team All-Metro as a freshman, First Team All-Metro as a sophomore and junior, and earned First Team All-State each season of her high school career.
Kaylon has signed to play lacrosse for Arizona State next season.
