The National Speech and Debate Association hosted the annual national tournament on June 16- 23 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ladue was represented by Levi Dyson (2018 graduate), Max Kornfeld (incoming senior), Albert Liu (2018 graduate), Noor Rahman (2018 graduate), and Edward Wu (2018 graduate).
Max Kornfeld placed second in Extemporaneous Debate! He advanced through 16 rounds of debate to make it to the national championship round. He only lost by one vote! This is the best finish for a Ladue Schools student in at least seven years! You can watch his final round here — go to 5:4539 for the beginning of the round. Additionally, Levi Dyson and Edward Wu advanced out of preliminary rounds for Public Forum Debate.
The team also attended the National Catholic Forensic League National Tournament in Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend.
Albert Liu (2018 graduate) advanced to the double octafinal round of Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Sunny Lu (incoming junior) advanced to the octafinal round of Original Oratory.
The team is excited is to build on the successes of the 2017-2018 season when they begin the 2018-2019 season on Sept. 29 with Oakville High School’s Autumn Congress event.
