Molly Beck, a social studies teacher at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, was selected to attend the 2018 C-SPAN Summer High School Educators’ Conference. The conference took place in Washington, D.C. in July.
Each summer, C-SPAN selects 30 teachers from across the country to come to D.C. and learn about resources and programs C-SPAN provides for teachers and students. Teachers spent time meeting with C-SPAN staff, learning about their programming, creating content on C-SPAN Classroom, and spent an evening learning from the political director at C-SPAN.
As part of this year’s conference, teachers were interviewed by Brian Lamb, the founder of C-SPAN. The interview centered around teaching current events, civic engagement, verifying information in the news, and the impact of social media. Molly’s interview segment starts at approximately 34:30 in the video linked here: www.c-span.org/video/?c4746900/span-educators-conference-high-school-teachers.
