Ladue Schools alumnus John Gaskin, III recently became the youngest St. Louis County NAACP president in the organization’s 75-year history. John, 26, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that his first priority will be examining workforce diversity.

John has been an NAACP national board member since 2012, and served as Midwest Region IV representative on the NAACP national board of directors. He also received the Liberty Bell Award from the Missouri Bar’s Young Lawyers’ Section, which recognizes a non-lawyer or non-legal organization engaged in public service activities that enhance the legal community or are dedicated to the advancement of justice.

John graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 2011, and told the Post-Dispatch: “I understand critically what a good public school education can do, what kind of difference it can make.”

He went on to earn a degree in political science from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
