Ladue Horton Watkins High School Social Studies Teacher Riley Keltner has been named a 2019 James Madison Fellow. Only one teacher from each state is selected and Riley will represent Illinois — where she lives. She plans to use the award funds to assist in paying for her Masters Degree in American History.
The award is intended to recognize promising and distinguished teachers, to strengthen their knowledge of the origins and development of American constitutional government, and thus to expose the nation’s secondary school students to accurate knowledge of the nation’s constitutional heritage.
The James Madison Fellowship was founded by an Act of Congress in 1986 and is an independent agency of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government.
