Tarek Al Husseini, an 8th grader at Ladue Middle School, glazed over the competition to take second place in the 7th season of Food Network’s popular baking show, Kids Baking Championship.
In Kids Baking Championship, hosts Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman test the skills of nine talented young bakers, ranging in age from 10 to 13, in difficult dessert challenges to see who will measure up in the competition.
The competition was fierce, but Tarek did great! After all, he’s been baking since he was five years old. Starting modestly with classic chocolate chip cookies, the 14-year-old now tackles recipes like macarons, homemade ice cream, and key lime pie.
For Tarek, baking has become a science. He’s recently begun working with yeast and has been experimenting with a sourdough starter.
Way to go Tarek! You can learn more about Tarek’s culinary skills in this St. Louis Magazine article.
