Ladue Middle School eighth-grade student Yueheng Wang has won first place in the 2021 Creating Original Music Project organized by the University of Missouri.
Yueheng’s composition “Lingering Reflection” was written for piano quintet and won first place in the Middle School division of the competition.
This is the second-consecutive year Yueheng has placed first in his division; he will receive $500 for his winning submission and Ladue Middle School will receive $1000.
The Creating Original Music Project is a statewide competition that invites K-12 students to compose original works in a variety of musical styles.
This year’s winners will have their original pieces showcased during a live stream of the Creating Original Music Project Festival on April 24.
