LHWHS Math Team Takes Top Spot in Two Competitions

The Ladue Horton Watkins High School Math Team placed first in the Missouri Math League State Competition for the sixth consecutive year.

The team earned 177 out of a possible 180 points, which is the competition’s highest cumulative score in the last 12 years.

Team members include:

  • William Bender, 11th grade (tied for 1st in state with a perfect score of 36)
  • Marina Sha, 12th (tied for 1st place)
  • Stephen Jiang, 12th (3rd place)
  • Anthony Wang, 11th (4th place)
  • Samuel Chen, 11th (5th place)
  • Jason Ding, 12th
  • Megan Ouyang, 10th
  • Nicole Li, 10th
  • Kevin Tang, 9th

Several students also contributed to a first-place tie in the Purple Comet International Math Competition.

The team hadn’t finished in the top 10 in the past 11 years but earned a perfect score of 30 points to tie with teams from China, Azerbaijan, and the United States.
