Reed Elementary School art teacher Ali Breitbach will have her artwork featured in an upcoming art exhibit at Saks 5th Avenue in Frontenac.
Realities opens Sept. 9 and will feature 20 years-worth of Breitbach’s work in areas of fine art and fashion design.
“This is truly a dream come true!” Breitbach said. “I am beyond thrilled to share this with our community since it has been part of my life for 15 years as a Ladue Schools employee.”
Visitors will get to see hand-cut collages, transfers on wood panels and canvas, textiles, life-sized illustrations and paper cut-outs of Breitbach’s clothing designs, and more.
A reception will be held at the gallery on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The opportunity came about after Breitbach recently visited the store with her daughter and saw its gallery space; she contacted Saks management who helped make the exhibit a reality.
Breitbach said the exhibit is especially meaningful because her family has a long history with Saks dating back to her childhood, when her grandmother worked a second job at the store and would often set aside clothing for her to try on.
