LHWHS junior Emily Shaw tied for first place and Chau Tran was named a finalist in the St. Louis Science Fair – Honors Division, organized by the Academy of Science of St. Louis.
Emily and her winning project, The Effect of Glucose-6-Phosphate on Apoptosis of MCF7 Breast Cancer Cells, now move on to the virtual Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in May.
Chau was named one of five finalists in the science fair with her project, Are Asian Diets Healthier Than Western Diets? Evidence from Hand-Collected and Randomized Data.
She will now automatically be entered as a top project in the Academy of Science – St. Louis Science Fair for grades K-12 and will compete for special awards and scholarships in April.
These awards will be announced May 3.
The Honors Division of the Academy of Science – St. Louis Science Fair is a collegiate-level quality research study competition for Grades 9-12 by students living in or enrolled in St. Louis City or St. Louis County schools.
